Website

Our website does not use advertising trackers, advertising cookies, or ad personalization. We do not sell or share any data collected through the website for advertising purposes. If we introduce analytics in the future, it will be limited to anonymized, aggregate usage statistics.

QuietReads is a book tracker. The information you give it is about your reading — the books you add, the sessions you log, and the goals you set. Nothing more.

Information We Collect

1. Your Library Data

The books you add to QuietReads and the details you attach to them:

  • Book details — titles, authors, covers, and page counts for books you add to your library
  • Reading status — whether a book is Want to Read, Currently Reading, or Finished
  • Your notes — ratings, thoughts, and any custom notes you choose to attach to a book
  • Shelf data — how your books are organized and sorted

2. Reading Activity

  • Reading sessions and the time you log
  • Day streaks and your personal bests
  • Daily and yearly reading goals
  • Calendar history of your reading

This activity powers your Stats screen — streaks, goals, time-of-day charts, and genre breakdowns.

3. Usage Data

  • App usage patterns and frequency
  • Features accessed and screens visited
  • Device information (device type, OS version)
  • IP address (for security and abuse prevention)

4. Subscription & Purchase Information

In-app subscriptions are processed by the App Store (Apple). We do not store your payment card details. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status to determine whether premium features are unlocked.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the core Service — your library, TBR list, and reading status tracking
  • Build your Stats: streaks, goals, reading calendar, and genre breakdowns
  • Sync your library across your devices, where sync is available
  • Personalize your experience and improve the app
  • Communicate with you about your account and updates
  • Ensure security and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

🔒 Your Library Is Yours

  • Your book data is NEVER shared with third parties for advertising
  • Your notes and ratings are private to you
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use your library or notes to train AI models
  • Only you have access to your library through your device or account
  • Your data is deleted when you delete your account

Delete Your Account and Data

You can delete your account and library directly in the app.

  1. Open QuietReads and tap the Profile tab in the bottom bar
  2. Choose Delete Account and confirm the request
  3. If you cannot access the app, email hello@quietreads.space and we will complete the deletion for you

Your account and associated data are deleted immediately from our systems (and in no case later than 30 days).

⚠️ Warning: Deletion is permanent.

You will lose your library, TBR list, reading history, sessions, streaks, and goals. This cannot be undone.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Active account data: your library, notes, and reading history are retained while your account is active
  • Deleted account data: removed upon your in-app or verified email deletion request
  • Anonymized analytics: may be retained indefinitely for improvement
  • Legal compliance: some data may be retained as required by law

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Cloud storage — secure storage of your library data (United States)
  • App Store (Apple) — in-app purchases and subscription management

These services have their own privacy policies. We only share necessary data for service functionality, and never for advertising or onward sale.

Children's Privacy

QuietReads is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe an underage user has created an account, contact us at hello@quietreads.space.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you via in-app notification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need an account to use QuietReads?

QuietReads does not require you to create an account or provide an email address. We identify your device with a randomly generated, anonymous identifier that is stored securely on your device.

Q: Can anyone else see my library, notes, or ratings?

No. Your library, notes, and ratings are private to you. We never share them with other users or third parties for advertising, and we do not sell your data.

Q: Do you show ads or track me across other apps?

No. QuietReads contains no third-party advertising and no advertising trackers. Neither the app nor the website includes ad targeting or personalization.

Q: How do I delete my library and data?

Open QuietReads, tap the Profile tab in the bottom bar, and choose Delete Account. If you cannot access the app, email hello@quietreads.space with "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line.

Q: What happens to my data after deletion?

All your library data, notes, sessions, and reading history are permanently deleted upon completion of your in-app or verified email request. This deletion is complete and irreversible.

Q: How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Open the Profile tab in the app and choose Manage Subscription. You will be taken to Apple's subscription management page where you can cancel or change your plan.
